Dray studied art and as part of that photography. He started with the Canon A1 a semi-professional film SLR camera. Shooting images on his trips to Nepal, Thailand, India and Egypt. He started scuba diving in 1998 and picked up his first under water digital camera in 2002. The first camera was a Canon Powershot S40 point and shoot succeeded by the Canon Powershot S70. Since 2006 he is shooting with the Nikon D80 in an Ikelite housing with 2 DS125 Ikelite strobes and since 2008 with the Nikon D300 in a Hugyfot housing with extra 2x Inon Z240 strobes. At the moment he works forBlueotwo live-aboards as a dive safari guide on the Blue Horizon. On the boat he conducts digital photo workshops and the introduction to Adobe Photoshop CS3.
He is together with Jeroen van Vlierden the founder of www.aqualifeimages.com , a website dedicated to the marine life with contributors from all the world. Dray is married to Karin. They met in Malaysia while working on Perhentian Island and married in Thailand on Phi Phi Island. Karin is a dedicated videographer.

Among his photos you can find: Sharks, reef fish, pygmy seahorses, napoleon wrasse, moray eels, shrimps, clownfish, nudibranchs and UW landscapes. Three of his articles were published in the Dutch divemagazine: “Duikmagazine” covering macro marine life in the Red Sea and the behavior of divers on the oceanic white tip shark (carcharhinus-longimanus) named “Longimania” and the Caves of St.John’s. For the Book series Top Trumps Sharks a number of shark photos were submitted.
